Amarnath Yatra 2012

In a Welcome Decision, and in a bid to attract more and more pilgrims to the
Amarnath yatra 2012, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board had tied up with the Indian Postal Department to register pilgrims for the yatra. This is for the first time in the history of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra that post offices have been included for carrying out the registration process. Earlier the registration process is done Online at the Jk Bank's Website and Offline by the designated counters of JK Bank, Yes Bank and District Co-operative banks.
Here are a few points that yatris might find interesting for registration process with post offices :
- A total of 100 post offices have been identified across the country to carry out the registration process.
- The post offices will mainly do the registration of pilgrims belonging to the states of Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and UP.
- Four Yatri post offices will be set up along the Amarnath yatra route for the benefit of yatris.
- The introduction of post offices for registration process will defiantly help the natives of those places where there were no Registration counters of JK bank and Yes Bank
All the above information is shared by SASB CEO Mr. Navin Choudhary. He was on a 4 day visit to Baltal, the base camp of Amarnath Yatra 2012.The CEO informed that " Due to heavy snowfall, the temporary structures that were raised last year received massive damage and needs to be restructured again".
