Amarnath Yatra 2012 Registration and had already started and the yatris are busy in planning their time table for the yatra and in between this we have some good news for the yatris.A few week earlier we have announced that Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board had slashed the Helicopter rates by 40 %, in a bid to attract and provide helicopter services to pilgrims who always dreamt of Flying to Holy cave on Helicopter.Now you can Fly to Amarnath for only Rs 1445.In another Welcome Decision, the Union Home Ministry of India had given the approval for providing the Mobile Connectivity to pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra 2012.The pilgrims who are performing this holy annual yatra can procure a pre paid SIM that will have the validity of Seven days.Apart from the SIM, yatris are also provided with a Short term yatra card.
Other States Prep paid Connections are Non-Functional in J&K
Due to security reasons, the prepaid mobile connections of other states are non-functional in J&K. Those yatris who frequently visit J&K are aware of this fact, but the post paid numbers of other states are functional in J&K.Since most of the Amarnath yatra pilgrims have prepaid connections, so it was decided to provide Mobile Connectivity to Pilgrims with limited validity.
Yatris must note that soon after crossing the J&K Punjab Border at Gurdaspur and entering the J&K Border, all the prepaid mobile connections will be non functional.
BSNL will provide the Service
To the much delight of pilgrims, National Telecom Backbone BSNL will provide prepaid Sims to the yatris after their arrival in Pahalgam or Baltal.Yatris who wish to avail this facility will have to submit the photocopies of their Residential proof and Unique Identification Number (UID).Some other private telecom operators Like Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel, IDEA and Reliance are asked to provide inter connectivity for this purpose
The Sim Card that will be given to the pilgrims will have a limited validity of only 7 days, after that the yatris will be unable to recharge the Number.
